OBIT: Eleanor P. Kovac (Ford City)

KOVAC - Eleanor P. (Tenerowicz) Kovac, 86, of Ford City, died on Friday, April 29, 2016 at her residence.

She as born in Ford City on September 13, 1929, a daughter of Walter and Clara (Jamro) Tenerowicz.

Eleanor was a member of Christ Prince of Peace Church and a former member of Holy Trinity Church. She was also a member of the Polish Falcons, Ford City.

Mrs. Kovac formerly worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries and ALLTEL as a telephone operator.

In her youth, Eleanor was very active with the Polish Falcons Drill Team and was very successful at the drill meets, earning her the nickname “Little Miss Dynamite.”

Eleanor enjoyed hosting family holiday dinners, especially Wagilia. She also enjoyed spending time with family, watching old Hollywood movies, reading about Presidential trivia and current events, listening to music with polkas, Bobby Vinton and Glen Campbell being some of her favorites, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. Eleanor also loved being from Ford City and being Polish.

She was a lifelong resident of her community.

Survivors include three daughters: Yvonne Kovac and friend Ken Dye of Columbus, OH, Debra Panchik and husband Edward of Ford City; and one son: Keith Kovac and fiancé Deb Denardo of Ford City; two grandsons: Zachary Panchik and Andrew Panchik; two granddaughters: Elizabeth Cujas and Anna Cujas; one sister: Elizabeth Pechan of Ford City; one brother: Henry Tenerowicz of Butler; and long-time caregiver: Becky Warren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Albert “Coke” Kovac who died on April 22, 2001; an infant son: Gregory; a sister” Anna Klukan; and two brothers: Walter and Carl.

Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2016 from 7-9 PM at the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City, where a Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday at Christ Prince of Peace Parish with Father John Harrold celebrant. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
