Two separate incidents in the Allegheny River kept local fire crews and police busy overnight.

Emergency crews from Templeton, Kittanning #6, Washington Township, Distant, Dayton, and the HOST water search team were dispatched Sunday night at approximately 10:30 for two missing kayakers on the Mahoning Creek between Deanville Road and Mahoning Road. The pair were later found unharmed.

In a separate incident, authorities have released the name of another man who went missing overnight.

Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers confirmed that Jeremy Potocnak, 33, of Ford City, was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 400 yeards up from Tubmill Run, off Ross Avenue in Manor Township. Myers said his family reported his disappearance after he did not return home from panning for gold. Potocnak was found face down on the edge of the Creek shortly after 6AM today. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

Crews were searching the area off Rosston Circle when the search was called off at 6:18 this morning.

The Pennsylvania State Police said they are continuing the investigation at this time.

The coroner’s office was assisted at the scene by the Manor Township Fire Department, Ford City Fire Department, and Ford City Ambulance.
