FC Councilman Says He Can’t Guarantee Water Rates Won’t Go Up

While Tyson Klukan said he is excited that Ford City will be receiving a grant for $750,000 . However, the Councilman isn’t sure if it will be enough to offset construction costs of the new water plant.
Klukan called the WTYM morning show “David & Friends” to discuss water rates last Friday.
“As of right now, we don’t have the hard numbers in on the next bid. I’m not going to tell people we are going to cut their water rates or raise their water rates. There is an unknown right now until we can see what the final bid numbers are coming in at, and if we have to ask for additional funding.”
PennVEST, who loaned the borough $2 million for water plant construction, had previously indicated an increase of $1 would be necessary to offset costs.
The borough is currently out to bid again for water plant construction. Bids are to be open March 24 at the Armstrong County Planning Office in Kittanning.
“We will find out if our prices are higher than the $3.9 million or lower. So we will see if we have to additionally find any funding - either go back to PennVEST which has an April 30th meeting - or if we have to find additional grant funding.”
Construction is expected to begin this summer and should be completed within 12 months.
Residents receive monthly bills for $83.10 - $30 for water, $27.60 for sewage, and $25.50 for trash.
Klukan said the quality of water has not been an issue.
“CWM Environmental tests our water every month. We test from four different locations throughout the municipality.”
Klukan also praised the previous council for their diligence in obtaining the grant.
“Kudos to the old council - they did a lot of work for finding the grant.”

I moved into my house in 2010 and we put in a new hot water tank then. Two years ago my copper pipe connecting the line of the water to my house corroded at the end….we replaced it. Last year it corroded again and we replaced. Last fall we had to replace our hot water tank. When we emptied it to remove, the bottom was filled with a greenish/white sludge. My new fawcets are green around the edges. How can you tell me the water is fit?

Unless I’m mistaken don’t we have lead water lines like Flin Michigan maybe we ought to borrow another 10 million and fix them

Yes, they should fix the LEAD water lines.
I have a piece of the line to prove it. We obtained it during the sewer-separation projects a few years back.
Don’t drink Ford City water, especially if your immune system is compromised.

I thought my comment above was pretty important. Some would rather read Jorn Jensen’s BS, instead. S-T-A-L-E !!!!
