Kittanning Council to Receive Jacob Street Report Tonight

Kittanning Borough Council will be updated on the lack of progress on the Jacob Street paving project.

Council approved a $334,750 contract with Contractor Russell Standard for the project. It includes installation of new ramps that are designed for accessibility for persons with disabilities at each of the corners of McKean and Jacob, repair of sink hole in front of alley by Leeway Rental, and milling and resurfacing of Jacob Street from Water to McKean.

The contractor was to be completed on September 22nd, but sought a 25-day extension until October 17. PennDOT only approved a 13-day extension, which means the contractor would have to have work completed before this Friday before daily fees of over $800 per day will be charged to the contractor.

The contractor has been scheduled to work 12-hour days, Monday through Saturday, in order to complete the project.

The council meeting will be televised live on Family-Life TV beginning at 7PM.
