OBIT: Fred John Caruso (formerly of Ford City)
Fred John Caruso, 95, of Leesburg, FL, went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2015.
He was born on July 2, 1920 to his parents: Nunzio and Elizabeth Caruso in Ford City.
Fred was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he fought for our country for 20 years. Fred served in WWII and the Korean War. Shortly after retiring from the Navy, Fred worked for an electric company in California for over ten years. He then moved to Leesburg, FL, where he has lived for the past 38 years.
Fred was a member of the Leesburg Masons and the American Legions. He enjoyed fishing and golfing with his friends. He was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Those who had the honor of knowing Fred would say that he was a caring and loving man who was very protective over those who he held dear.
He is survived by his brother: Michael (Geraldine) Caruso of Ford City; several nieces and nephews; and special friend: Ann Lessard of Fruitland Park, FL.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years: Margaret Caruso, who passed away in 1997.
Fred was a loving husband, uncle, companion, and friend who will be deeply missed by many.
A memorial service in his honor will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Harbor Oaks Club House from 1-3PM. A graveside service at the Florida National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
