OBIT: William E. “Bill” Steim (Kittanning)

William Ernest “Bill” Steim, 76, of Kittanning, died on September 19, 2015.

He was born on September 30, 1938 in Kittanning, a son of Leonard and Edith (Shirey) Steim. He was a lifelong resident of the community.

Bill was best known as a self-employed electrician and retired from 5-Rubber Company.

He was a member of the Walkchalk-Salem Baptist Church.

He was a member of the Kittanning Firemen’s Band from 1969 to 2011, a lifetime member of the Kittanning Hose Co. #6 VFD from 1969 to present, and an organizer of the WWII Veteran’s trip to Washington, DC in 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Louise (Goldinger) Steim; son: Randy E. Steim of Kittanning; grandchildren: Sara (Chris) Seratine of Kittanning, Carrie (Mindy) Lee of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Edward A. Steim in the U.S. Army; sister: Betty G. Caruso; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Helen Delp, Leah Lefchik, and Patricia Rupp; and brothers: Charles (Doc), Robert (Pete), Benjamin, George, Randall, Donald, and Edward.

The family will receive friends at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. Viewing will continue on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 10AM until the time of a funeral service at 11AM. Pastor Edward Walters will be assisted by Pastor Chuck Layne in officiating of the funeral. Interment will be in the Rimer Hill Cemetery.
