Four people were injured Saturday morning around 11AM when a Washington Township fire truck overturned en route to a fire call. (submitted)

A Washington Township Fire Department fire truck lost all brake pressure Saturday morning on River Hill Road, running into a ditch before striking an embankment and rolling over onto its passenger side.

The driver was identified as 38-year-old Robert J. Martz, Jr. from Adrian.

The 1983 Ford fire truck came to rest just past the turn off to River’s Edge Lane. The truck sustained moderate damage and was towed by Mohney’s Towing.

Sugarcreek EMS transported Martz and three other passengers to ACMH Hospital - all with minor injuries. The other occupants included an unidentified 15-year-old female, 38-year-old Benjamin Bowser, and 39-year-old Shawn Shaner.

The fire crew was responding to a call to the River’s Edge Campground and Marina near Lock 9 for an unoccupied vehicle fire.
