OBIT: Phyllis I. (Collier) Bassinger (Templeton)

Phyllis I. (Collier) Bassinger, 74, of Templeton, went to be with the Lord on the evening of Monday, September 14, 2015, at Sugarcreek Rest, with her family by her side.

She was born May 28, 1941 in Templeton, to George and Jennie (Sefton) Collier.

Phyllis was a homemaker.

As well as being a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Templeton, she was one of the original organizers of the Hyde Park Community Days.

She also enjoyed flower arranging, ceramics and sewing.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 56 years, William “Bill” Bassinger; twins, Ken Bassinger and wife, Sherrie, and Karen Guercio and husband, Joe; two additional sons: Bill Bassinger and wife, Cindy, and Greg Bassinger; nine grandchildren: Shane, Shelby, Sam, Trevor, Nick, Emily, Ryan, Beth and Maddy; four sisters: Lela Hileman, Jean Shankle, Brenda Mateer and Susan Schall; and brother, David Collier.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Mildred Skinner, Clairie Slagle and Verna Panciera; two brothers: Donald Collier and James Collier; and granddaughter, Caroline.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, September 17, 2015 - in Kennedy and Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning.

A funeral service will be at 11AM Friday, September 18, 2015 in the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Templeton, with the Rev. David Murphy, officiating. Everyone please meet at church.

Interment will be in Mateer Cemetery.
