OBIT: Antonio Salvadore “Tony” Gallo (Kittanning)
Antonio Salvadore “Tony” Gallo, 94, of Kittanning, died Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the VA Butler Healthcare.
Born May 23, 1921, in Chickasaw, Pa., he was a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Rametta) Gallo.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was the owner and operator of Vision Radio and TV in Ford City.
“Tony” was a parishioner of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Kittanning, was a member of the Kittanning Knights of Columbus, and loved going to daily Mass.
Tony was a Ham radio operator under the name W3LDS. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and being with his “Cat.”
He is survived by two sons: Paul A. Gallo of Butler, and Dennis J. Gallo of Findlay, Ohio; a daughter, Vita Altmeyer of Natrona Heights; seven grandchildren: Tyler Altmeyer, Megan Altmeyer, Paul Gallo Jr., James Gallo, Lindsay Peters, Brett Gallo, and Nick Gallo; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Margaret Horan and Jennie Stello, both of Ford City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Cerniglia) Gallo; two brothers: Frank and James Gallo; and a sister, Mary Vargo.
At Tony’s request, visitation will be private.
Family and friends are welcomed to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM today - Tuesday, September 15, 2015 - at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Kitttaning, with Father Douglas Dorula, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Kittanning.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home in Ford City.
