OBIT: John A. Smeltzer (Kittanning Township)

John Arthur Smeltzer, 64, of Kittanning Township passed away on August 8, 2015 at ACMH Hospital.

He was born on May 19, 1951 to William Smeltzer and Dorothy (Markel) Smeltzer Baker in Punxsutawney, PA. John worked as a Laborer for Kittanning Township. He was a member of the Holiness Gospel Center in Sagamore. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fixing everything himself.

John is survived by his wife: Deborah whom he married March 11, 1972; three daughters: Diane (Michael) Geidel of Ford City, Lisa (David) Rupert of Kittanning and Becky (Chad) Copeland of Kittanning; son - William (Fiancée Tammy Smith) Smeltzer of Kittanning; three sisters: Jean (James) Gradwell of Ford City, Doris (Robert) Pounds of Youngstown, OH and Arlene Condrick of Youngstown, OH; three brothers: Robert (Violet) Smeltzer of Shelocta, William (Susie) Smeltzer of MD and Russell Smeltzer of Ford City; sister-in-law: Rose Smeltzer of Elderton; 9 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Donald Smeltzer; and sister: Connie Peffer.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home in Rural Valley. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Kal Henry officiating. Burial will take place in the Atwood Cemetery.
