Police Make Drug/Alcohol-Related Arrests
The Pennsylvania State Police responded to a variety of drug and alcohol incidents during the first few days of July.
Jared H. Donley, 23, of Kittanning was arrested in the Belmont parking lot in East Franklin Township on July 2. Trooper Glasgow initiated a traffic stop for multiple traffic violations. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Donley was in possession of suspected drugs and paraphernalia as well as approximately $9,000 worth of stolen tools from a previous theft that was being investigated.
Zane M. Bonner, 20, from Ford City was found to be in possession of marijuana and under the influence of alcohol while under the legal drinking age on July 3, at 2:38 AM. Charges were filed.
Later that day at 5:20 PM, State Police stopped Joshua Johns from Ford City for traveling 82 in a posted 65 mph zone on Route 29 north at the Furnace Run Road overpass in South Buffalo Township. During the traffic stop, two passengers - a 20-year-old from Ford City and a 27-year-old from Ford Cliff were found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. A drug paraphernalia device was also found. Investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
Eric L. Hawthorne, 53, from Ford City was found walking along the roadway on Route 66 near the Edgewood Intersection in Manor Township shortly after midnight on July 4. Hawthorne was found to be under the influence of alcoholic beverages to the extent it affected the safety of the public and the suspect. He was cited with Public Drunkenness and taken to ACMH Hospital for treatment.
Police did not disclose the name of a 44-year-old Rural Valley woman who was arrested on July 4 at approximately 2AM on Butler Road near Pleasantview Drive in East Franklin Township. She was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be under the influence of alcohol. The individual was taken into custody and charges are pending lab results.
