Chicora Man Charged After Home Break In

An East Franklin Township resident called police early Monday morning after finding an unidentified male on her couch.
The male was later identified as 23 year old Chicora resident, Zachery Piper.
According to an affidavit filed on July 6 the East Franklin Township resident retreated to safety, until police arrived and woke up Piper at 5:45 AM. Upon police arrival, Piper claimed that he was not sure of where he was or how he got to the residence. Piper was then arrested for Felony Burglary and Criminal Trespass charges.
No theft took place and no injuries occurred. It did not appear that Piper had drove to the residence as Piper is an unlicensed driver and no car was found nearby.
Piper was taken to the Armstrong County Jail. He has since posted his $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing date before District Magisterial Judge James Owen in Kittanning is set for 9 AM Wednesday July 15.
According to East Franklin Township Police Sgt. William Evans the resident who called in to police was “terrified” upon seeing the unidentified white male in her home. Evans said Piper might have been “blackout drunk” in regards to not knowing how he ended up in the East Franklin resident’s home.
In late-September, Piper – who lived in East Brady with his mother – called for help about 2PM from a home along Seventh Avenue in Ford City Borough after allegedly being shot in the right shoulder, according to Ford City Police Sgt. John Atherton.
He was flown from the residence – which is owned by his sister’s boyfriend – to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. A hospital official said Monday Piper is in fair condition.
Neither the sister nor the boyfriend was at the Ford City residence Sunday afternoon.
Sgt. Atherton said police have heard various accounts of what happened so far – including that Piper was shot and transported from New Kensington – but will continue their investigation with neighboring officials.
Neither Westmoreland County 9-1-1 dispatchers nor New Kensington Police officers received calls regarding the alleged shooting.
Blood droppings were found outside the home and have been submitted into evidence.
Piper was previously charged with a misdemeanor on October 25, 2014 for alleged possession of marijuana and for alleged use and possession of paraphernalia on November 7, 2014. He is scheduled for a criminal case status conference trial in relation to these charges on 9 AM July 17 with County District Attorney Scott Andreassi.

I see another slap on the wrist coming and a return to the streets. If only the DA and Judge would work together to keep him off the streets, he may make it to 25, but this is Armstrong County. He will get ARD, community service, and time served. Anyone want to bet he is back in jail before the end of the year????????
