OBIT: James Freeman Kennedy (formerly of Templeton)
James Freeman Kennedy, 77, of Smithfield, Va. - formerly of Templeton - died Monday, June 29, 2015, in Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va.
James was born February 26, 1938, in Templeton, to Herb and Annabelle (Westwood) Kennedy.
He was a steelworker and a U.S. Army veteran.
James formerly attended Templeton United Methodist Church, was a member of Pine Creek Sportsman Club, a past member of the Pine Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a founding member of the Kit-Han-NE Rock and Gem Club.
He liked making jewelry and doing woodworking.
James is survived by his two sons: Bob Kennedy and wife, Joyce, of Smithfield, Va., and Jim Kennedy and wife, Karen, of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Bobbie Dee and Heather, of Smithfield, and Ethan and Lily, of Richmond; three brothers: Rich Kennedy, of Ford City, Fred Kennedy and wife, Carolyn, of Kittanning, and Tim Kennedy and wife, Holly, of Tidal; and sister, Linda “Suzy” Kennedy, of Tarentum.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Millie Jean (Brown) Kennedy, who passed away September 26, 2011; daughter, Melinda Kennedy; and brother, Clair Kennedy.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, July 2, 2015 - at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Additional visitation will be offered from 11AM-2PM Friday, July 3, 2015 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow at 2PM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
