OBIT: Frank R. Swast (formerly of Templeton)
Frank R. Swast, 89, of Boardman, Ohio (formerly of Templeton), died on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Hospice of the Valley in Boardman.
Born on December 20, 1925 in Templeton, he was the son of Mike and Esther (Stockey) Swast.
Frank was a U.S. Naval veteran who served in WWII in the Pacific Theater and stationed in Guam. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of the Freeport Brick Company.
He was a member of the Pine Creek Sportsman Club and Templeton Rod and Gun Club. He loved people and volunteered to help them with different projects and also was a Red Coat volunteer at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Doris (Schultz) Swast; sons: Nyle (Karen) Swast of Templeton, and Alan (Barbara) Swast of Boardman, OH; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Andrew (Dea) Swast of Ellerton, FL, and Paul (Shirley) Swast of Kittanning; son-in-law: Rodney Reedy of Clemmons, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Lisa Reedy; two brothers: George and Marco Swast; and three sisters: Mary Sullivan, Pauline Burtges, and Dorothy Naviglia.
Friends will be received from 2-7PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 and from 10AM until the time of a funeral service on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. His son, the Reverend Alan Swast, will be officiating. Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery.
