OBIT: Frances (McHenry) Johnston (formerly of Allegheny Township)

Frances (McHenry) Johnston, 94, of Erdley’s Personal Care Home in Sunnyside (formerly of Allegheny Township) died on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Armstrong County Health Center.

Born on May 31, 1920, she was a daughter of Harry and Florance McHenry. She was employed at Hessom’s Restaurant in the Leechburg area as a cook from the day it opened until the day it closed.

She enjoyed word search puzzles, reading, and time spent with family.

She is survived by her daughters: Connie (Melvin) Moody of Harrisburg, and Mona Johnston-Kregiel of New Kensington; son: Richard (Grace) Johnston of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph L. Johnston; sons: Joseph H. Johnston of Templeton and Robert P. Johnston of Allegheny Township; an infant daughter; and son-in-law: Eugene Kregial.

Friends will be received from 11AM until the time of a funeral service at 1PM on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning. The Reverend John W. Snyder will officiate. Interment will be in the Brookland Cemetery.
