OBIT: Mabel Marie Waugaman (Ford City)

Mabel Marie Waugaman, 101, of Ford City, died Monday, April 27, 2015, in ACMH Hospital, East Franklin Township.

Born February 6, 1914, in Manor Township, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Flora (Hetrick) Swartzlander.

She graduated from Ford City High School in 1931.

Mabel belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ford City, where she was a member of the Von Boras. She was also a member of Ford Cliff Fire Department Auxiliary for over 50 years, and the Burrell Twp Senior Citizens.

She also worked for Meals-On-Wheels at the First Baptist Church of Kittanning.

Mabel is survived by two daughters: Sara Bissell of Virginia, and Paula Henry of Kittanning; four stepsons: Donald Waugaman of Greensburg, Glenn Waugaman of New Hampshire, Marlin Waugaman of Lancaster, and James Waugaman of Worthington; five grandchildren; and 16 step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fador Wess; her second husband, Harold Leroy Waugaman; two brothers: Paul and Earl Swartzlander; three sisters: Martha Artman, Frances Carberry, and Nora Stitt; one step grandchild; and two infant sisters.

Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11AM Friday, Ma 1, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ford City, with arrangements through the Welch Funeral Home in Ford City.

Her Pastor, Rev. Jack Delk, will be officiating.
