OBIT: Blaine A. “Jake” Hankey (Ford City)
Blaine A. “Jake” Hankey, 74, of Ford City, died Monday, April 26, 2015 in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 8, 1941, in Kittanning Township, to the late Russell and Zelma (Aikens) Hankey .
Jake was a lifelong member of United Rockville Lutheran Church in Kittanning Township. He was the owner and operator of Hankey’s Auto Service in Kittanning Township, specializing in transmission work.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending car cruises and hunting. Jake also enjoyed working on projects, both in and out of his house, and could really repair and dress-up anything.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Jane (Gillespie) Hankey; two sons: Thomas (Rene) Hankey of Kittanning, and Douglas (Lisa) Hankey of Ford City; a daughter, Andrea Lasher of Ford City; five grandchildren: Dylan, Justyne, and Kenzie Lasher, and Chloe and Rafe Hankey; and three sisters: Janet (Jim) Hilliard of Florida, Helen Schrecengost of Kittanning, and Judy Labrecque of Connecticut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (McElhatton) Hankey; a son, Timothy B. Hankey; a brother, Cecil Pete Hankey; and a sister, Connie Grondin.
Friends and family will be welcomed from 7-9PM tomorrow - Wednesday, April 29, 2015 - at the Welch Funeral Home in Ford City.
Additional visitation will be offered from 2-4 and 7-9PM, Thursday, April 30, 2015 and from 12:30-1:30PM Friday, May 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Friday, May 1, 2015 at United Rockville Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert C. Hawk and Rev. Phillip Ramstad, officiating.
Interment will follow in United Rockville Lutheran Cemetery.
