Avonmore Man Accused of Burglary

An Avonmore man is accused of stealing three vehicles and crashing two of them along Route 85 in Cowanshannock Township early Sunday morning.

Arthur King, 21 of Avonmore, is charged with multiple crimes - including at least two felonies, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving under the influence and five summary charges of criminal mischief, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.

A police investigation found that King entered a garage and stole a 2007 Toyota Camry first before crashing it along Route 85. He abandoned the vehicle and then stole a 2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara before crashing it again about a half-mile away.

King was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, with a chemical test already performed.

King was arraigned before District Judge James Owen and was placed in the Armstrong County Jail - where he is currently incarcerated.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week.
