OBIT: LaVerne (Boyd) Johns (Cowansville)
LaVerne (Boyd) Johns, 93, of Cowansville, died Monday, April 13, 2015, at Sugar Creek Rest.
She was born August 20, 1921, in Kittanning, to William E. and Grace Lenore (Davidson) Boyd.
LaVerne was a lifelong community resident, and was a homemaker and wonderful mother.
She was a lifelong member of the Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian.
LaVerne was self-taught and played any instrument, playing on both the radio and on TV. She also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and working in the yard, as well as spending time with family.
She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
LaVerne is survived by her four daughters: Lana (Sam) Monsour of Adrian, Dixie (Mike) Whiteman of Kittanning, Tracy (Gregg) Gingrich of Cowansville, and Ginger (Meade) Shaffer of Adrian; two sons: Barry (Jane) Johns of Adrian and Scott (Peggy) Johns of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burton H. Johns, who passed October 7, 1984; son, B. Allan Johns; one brother, Jack Boyd; two sisters: Betty Carsone and Beryl Bowser; and two infant great-grandchildren, Angel Mercantile and Matthew Johns.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, April 16, 2015 - at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville.
Additional visitation will be offered from 1PM until the time of funeral services at 2PM Friday, April 17, 2015, at the Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian.
Pastor Robert French will officiate.
Interment will be in Brush Valley Brethren Church Cemetery.
