OBIT: Ruth M. Shaffer (Kittanning)

Ruth M. Shaffer, 77, of Kittanning, died Monday, April 13, 2015, in Armstrong County Health Center.

She was born February 21, 1938, in Kittanning, a daughter of Melvin and Edith (Smith) Wonderling.

Ruth was a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of East Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and a former Cub Scout Leader.

She enjoyed puzzle books and watching the Home Shopping Network.

Ruth is survived by her son, Gene P. Shaffer Jr. of Kittanning; daughter, Cheryl Shaffer of New Hampshire; two granddaughters: Nicole Cyr and Izzy Parker of New Hampshire; great-granddaughter, Jesse Cyr; great-grandson, Josh Giles; two brothers: Merv Wonderling of Kittanning and Richard Wonderling of East Brady; and two sisters: Jean Emery of Reynoldsville, and Mag Butler, of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Shaffer Sr.; two sisters: June Dailey and Byrd Hooks; four brothers-in-law: Aus Dailey, Hud Hooks, Rich Emery and Jack Butler; and sister-in-law, Jackie Wonderling.

Friends will be received from 7-9PM tomorrow - Wednesday, April 15, 2015 - at the Kennedy and Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9PM Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, April 17, 2015 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery.
