OBIT: Frances A. Jurbala (Kittanning)
Frances A. Jurbala, 82 of Kittanning, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at her son’s residence in Oviedo, Fla.
She was born January 29, 1933 in Ford City to Anton and Anna (Sacik) Remis.
Frances formerly resided in New York, New Jersey and Indiana. She was married to the late-Edward G. Jurbala, who died February 28, 1971.
She worked at Eljer, Shop-Rite, Pollock’s and Rowley Lumber in the Accounts Payable/Receivable area.
Frances was a former member of Holy Trinity Church and St. Lawrence Church of Cadogan.
Her greatest loves were God, her country and her family – including her granddogs. With a knack for numbers, Fran enjoyed challenging her mind with quizzes, Jeopardy and crossword puzzles.
Fran was always up for a road trip, and she enjoyed dining out. Her other hobbies included writing, Bingo and crocheting.
She will be deeply missed by her six children – Edward Jurbala and Lorri Donghia of Middletown, New York, Thomas Jurbala of Plattekill, New York, Robert Jurbala of Middletown, New York, Richard (and Brenda) Jurbala of Oviedo, Fla., Marie (and Denny) Shiring of Sarver and Teresa (and Timothy) Davis of Kittanning - whom she raised following the death of her husband at a very young age.
Fran is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Ryan, Mariah, Taylor, Kylie, Breanne, Lauren, Heather, Christina, Joseph, Katie and Rebecca; three brothers: Anthony (and Dolores) Remis of Kittanning, Albert (and Vera) Remis of Ford City and David Remis of Ford City; and three sisters: Martha (and John) Lux of Ford City, Rose Fichthorn of New York and Ann (and Robert) Borowitz of Ford City.
In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Remis.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow – Friday, March 27, 2015 – at the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City.
A prayer service will be held at 8:30AM Saturday, March 28, 2015 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM at St. Lawrence Church in Cadogan.
Father Bryan Summers will officiate.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
