OBIT: John Gill (Tarrtown)

John Gill, 91, of Adrian (Tarrtown) died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at home.

He was born on June 15, 1923 in Somerset, PA, a son of John and Mary Gill. He was a lifelong resident of Tarrtown.

He served in WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadaloupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning, the Kittanning Eagles, and Kittaning Elks Lodge #203.

He enjoyed gardening, wine making, golfing, and being with his family.

He is survived by his two daughters: Connie (William) McMaster of Ford City, and Barbara (Keith) Heilman of Kittanning; son: John Gill of Adrian; grandsons: William McMaster and Jay Mohney; granddaughter: Brenda Spatafore; great-grandchildren: Jesse and Jacob McMaster, Hannah, Sarah, and Noah Spatafore; and great-great-grandson: Oliver McMaster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years: Mary who passed away June 15, 2014; brothers: Walter, Joseph, and Andy; sisters: Kathryn, Ann, Joan, and Helen.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home in Kittanning, and from Noon until the time of a funeral service at 1PM on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home with the Reverend Douglas E. Dorula officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
