ACMH Nurses, Corrections Officer Injured in Hospital Asssault

 

A trio of Pennsylvania State Police troopers had to respond to an incident at ACMH Hospital near the State barracks in East Franklin Township yesterday afternoon.

According to the State Police report, troopers are investigating a report of aggravated assault after a local patient led to injuries to two members of the ACMH nursing staff and an Armstrong County Corrections officer shortly after 1:30PM yesterday.

Paul Michael Smith, Jr., 25 of Kittanning, is accused of the assault and was arrested and taken into custody. He was arraigned by District Magisterial Judge Gary DeComo in Ford City and was being held in the Armstrong County Jail in Rayburn Township on $50,000 bond.

Victims reportedly included ACMH Behavioral Health Unit Manager and Registered Nurse Jodi Lynn Thiry of Apollo, Certified Nursing Assistant Brittany Sleigher of Rimersburg and Joseph Palermo of Kittanning.
