OBIT: Robert P. Fullerton (Manorville)

Robert P. Fullerton, 75, of Manorville, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his residence.

He was born April 5, 1939 in Ford City to Vernon A. Fullerton and Eva Maxine Harris Fullerton Fletcher.

Robert grew up here and moved back in the last 10 years.

He retired from the U.S. Information Agency, and was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957-59.

Robert received his s BSJ from West Virginia University in 1963, serving as managing editor of the Daily Athenaeum in his senior year. He also worked at the Office of Communications as a news service writer from 1970 to 1987.

His last 17 years, he was a writer and late evening news editor for the U.S. Information Agency (USIA) and the U.S. Department of State. He also worked for the USIA for nearly three years in the mid-1960s, including six months as one of two newsroom staffers at the White House.

He also worked two years as a writer for the United Press International (including covering the Maryland legislative session in Annapolis and Orioles baseball some in 1966), a year as a general assignment feature writer and staffer on the rewrite desk for the Baltimore News Association newspaper, and briefly out of journalism school as a writer for the Riverside, Calif., Daily Enterprise.

Robert is survived by a brother, Thomas Michael (and Nancy) Fullerton of Cameros, West Virginia; two nieces: April Pachuta and Jennifer Fullerton; and nephew, Shawn Fullerton.

He was preceded in death by brother, William D. Fullerton.

Friends will be received from 11AM until the funeral service at 1PM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City.

Pastor Ali Berkey will officiate the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Ford City Cemetery.
