A North Buffalo Township man is being held in the Armstrong County Jail after shooting at his wife and neighbor last Thursday night.
John Paul Roberts, 58, of Freeport Road has been charged with two felonies - including Aggravated Assault and Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure - and three misdemeanor charges of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Simple Assault, and making Terroristic Threats.
North Buffalo Police Chief Jason Hufhand explained the incident.
We were called to a domestic (altercation). While in route, 911 reported there were shots fired.”
Hufhand said that Roberts’ wife, Barbara Roberts, left the residence during an argument and walked north on Freeport Road.
“At that time, he came out of the residence and first fired a shot at her, and then he fired a shot at the neighbor’s house.
Hufhand said the shot went through the window into the residence of Deborah Cochran.
“She was lying in bed and he shot through (the window) and it went three feet above her.”
Hufhand said that Cochran was just a neighbor and had no connection with Roberts or the altercation.
North Buffalo Township Police Officer Adam Cogley made the arrest without incident. He was assisted by police from East Franklin Township, Pennsylvania State Police, West Kittanning Police, and Kittanning Borough.
Roberts was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge James Owen and placed in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
