Incumbent Court Prothonotary Seeks Re-Election

Armstrong County Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts Brenda C. George announced Wednesday that she will seek re-election for a fifth term of office.

The Madison Township resident was first elected in 1999, but has been employed in the Armstrong County courthouse for 31 years.

During her tenure, George cited the Armstrong County Clerk of Courts has a pioneer in the implementation of the state-wide Common Pleas Case Management System. Armstrong played a leading role in the development of the case management system, which is currently in use by all 67 counties in Pennsylvania.

George was one of two Prothonotaries in Pennsylvania to be appointed to serve on various committees by Chief Justice Ronald Castille, including the Public Access Working Group – which developed a policy on public access to Magisterial District Court records as well as the Court of Common Pleas.

She was also appointed to serve on the Juvenile Dependency Project Committee and Juvenile Delinquency Project Committee to assist in developing a case management system for managing and tracking juvenile dependency/delinquency cases within the Commonwealth.

George is a member of the Pennsylvania Prothonotaries and Clerk of Courts Association, where she has also served on various committees, executive board and was elected by her peers as State President in 2013.

Her duties including representing the group throughout the state and attending legislative area meetings, as well as: appointing of chairpersons and committee members, conferring with executive board and legislative chair on a regular basis as to any legislation affecting the Association and it current status, in addition to scheduling and negotiating the contract for the 2013 conference.

Armstrong County hosted the 2013 conference at the Hilton Garden Inn Southpointe/Pittsburgh in Canonsburg (Washington County) from July 9-12, 2013.

In addition, she was responsible for updating the civil training manual for use by Prothonotaries throughout the state.

George is an active member of Springside Baptist Church in New Bethlehem, and lives in Deanville with husband, Brian.

The 2015 Primary Election will be held May 19.
