OBIT: John G. “Jack” Pinkerton (Nu Mine)

John G. “Jack” Pinkerton , 91, of Nu Mine, passed peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana, PA.

Born December 3, 1923, John was the son of Pearl and John Pinkerton, and was one of four brothers and three sisters.

One of four brothers in the military service, Jack was a World War II Air Force Veteran, and served at Carlsen Air Force Base on Trinidad. Jack was well known by all for his service at the Nu Mine company store and his service as the USPS Nu Mine postmaster for 43 years, after which he began enjoying retirement in 1990. Additionally Jack was an active member of the former Nu Mine Presbyterian Church, a member of the American Legion Post 523, William Penn Fraternal Association Branch 88, NARFE, and enjoyed being an active member in the Greendale Lanes bowling league well into his 80’s.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years: Eva (Andrews) Pinkerton; brother: Paul Pinkerton; two sons: Gary and Randy Pinkerton; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

John, more affectionately known to those around him as “Jack”, was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Ella Mae Pinkerton; one son: John “Jackie” Pinkerton; two brothers: Wendell and Addison “Frank” Pinkerton; and three sisters: Marietta “Mary” McMasters, Kathryn “Kate” Yanik, and Sarah Brooks.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 9 PM Tuesday December 16, 2014 at the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home in Rural Valley, where a funeral service will be held at 11AM on December 17, 2014 with Pastor Justin Lamison officiating. Burial to follow in the Rural Valley Cemetery with full military honors.
