OBIT: Delbert “Pete” Shankle (Kittanning)

Delbert “Pete” John Shankle, 59, of Kittanning, died on November 6, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospice.

He was born on November 8, 1954 in Kittanning and was a lifelong resident. He was the son of John and Geneieve (Painter) Shankle.

Pete was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kittanning. He enjoyed wood working and driving.

He is survived by his wife: Cindy Shankle; two sons: Ronald (Bub) Shankle of Kittanning and Michael J. Shankle of Adrian; daughter: Shannon Delp of Kittanning; eleven grandchildren; two brothers: Ivan (Cindy) Shankle of Punxsutawney, and Harry Shankle of Rural Valley; and three sisters: Tina (James) Arbuckle of West Kittanning, Peg Shankle of Kittanning, and Wigs Shankle of Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family will be received from 10AM until the time of a funeral service at 11AM on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Kittanning Church of Christ with Evangelist Larry Krause officiating. Interment will be in the Croyle Cemetery.
