OBIT: Eleanor Irene Stanford (Kittanning)

Eleanor Irene Stanford, 76 of Kittanning, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Armstrong County Health Center under Hospice Care.

She was born July 4, 1938 in Redbank, Madison Township, to Joseph and Ruth Naomi (Stuart) Stanford.

Eleanor was a Trained Practical Nurse (in newborn baby care, working one year at the Children’s Home where she trained 16 years at Roselia Hospital and 27 years at Mercy Hospital before retirement, all in newborn baby care.

She was a 1956 graduate of Kittanning High School, and a 4H member.

Eleanor was a loving family member, driving many years to Mercy Hospital and back to the Kittannng area to care for her elderly parents and assisting relatives - always working the 11PM-7AM shift.

She was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Adrian.

Eleanor is survived by her brother, Richard W. Stanford (and wife Margaret) of Budd Lake, New Jersey; niece, Karen E. Stanford (and friend James Shannon) of West New York, New Jersey; grandniece, Kimberly Stanford at Kings College; nephew: David P. Stanford and his wife Christine of Great Meadows, NJ; two cousins: Peggy and Debora Stom of Dansville, New York; and good friend and telephone pal, Sarah Hindman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Friday, November 7, 2014 - at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Arlyn Eisenbrandt officiating.

Private interment will follow at Kellersburg Methodist Cemetery.
