Ford City Woman Fought with Police After Arrest

A Ford City woman stopped for unsafe driving had to eventually be arraigned and taken to the Armstrong County Jail in Rayburn Township because of multiple offenses.

According to a state police information report, about 7:30PM Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Christopher Robbins stopped Tayne Brittany Elizabeth Powell, 27, along State Route 66 near the State Route 422 on-ramp in Manor Township for unsafe driving and multiple traffic violations, but she was also found to be driving under the influence and began fighting with the corporal and had to be physically subdued.

Once in custody at the state police barracks in East Franklin Township, Powell “continued to fight and cause problems with the arresting officer and various Troopers,” the release stated – hitting, kicking, scratching and attempting to spit on a female trooper despite being handcuffed and restrained.

Powell was given a drug recognition evaluation and was observed to be under the influence of depressants and narcotic analgesics.

After submitting to a blood sample due to driving under the influence, Powell was arraigned by District Magisterial Judge James Owen and charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, Harassment, Driving under the Influence and numerous summary traffic offenses.

Bond was set at $50,000 and she was taken to the Armstrong County Jail.

According to online court documents, Powell has been arrested for driving offenses and speeding over the past few years.
