OBIT: Elizabeth I. “Betty” Valasek (Ford City)

Elizabeth I. “Betty” Valasek, 97 of Pleasantview Drive, Ford City died Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Armstrong County Health Center.

He was born October 7, 1916 in Ford Cliff to Rudolph and Johanna Vulgan Hornyak.

A lifelong community resident, “Betty” was a member of Christ, Prince of Peace Parsh, a former member and past present of Christian Mothers and L.C.B.A.

She was married Ludwig S. “Lud” Valasek, who died in 2002.

“Betty” is survived by her daughters in-law, Mary Jo Valasek; and grandson David W. Valasek.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Joseph A. Valasek, who died July 18, 2008; three brothers: Joseph Hornyak, Frank and Theodore; and three sisters: Ceceilia Kemmer, Anna Kolanko and Johanna Walleck.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9PM tomorrow - Wednesday, August 27, 2014 - at the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City.

Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM Thursday, August 28, 2014, at the Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Ford City.

Father Bryan Summers will officiate.

Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
