OBIT: William W. Harkless, Sr. (Worthington)
William Wilson Harkless Sr., 76, of Worthington, died on April 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on February 6, 1938 in Kittanning, a son of Millard Edward Harkless and Dessie Fay (McCanna) Harkless. He was a lifelong resident of the community.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a shear operator at the former Pullman Standard in Butler. He was affiliated with the Craigsville United Methodist Church and the Cowansville American Legion.
He is survived by his wife: Juliette B. (Gagne) Harkless of Craigsville; two sons: William (Norma) Harkless Jr. of Kittanning and Ronald Duane (Linda) Harkless of Kittanning; three granddaughters: Rita Harkless (Bernardo) Cruz of Blades DE, Sherry L. (Robert) Bartl of Craigsville, and Amanda Harkless of Kittanning; one grandson: Bradley Harkless of Kittanning; three sisters: Jean Harkless Smith of Kittanning, Linda Harkless Stamp of Sarver, and Lori Sue Harkless McLay of Cowansville; one brother: Millard E. Harkless Jr. of Sarver; several great-grandchildren: Sophia Eileen Martinez of Blades, DE, Yasmin Juliette Cruz of Blades, DE, Amber Rose Bartl of Worthington, and Lily Ann Bartl of Worthington; and a family friend: Pam Turney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Jack Edward Harkless; and his sister: Joan Claypool.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington, and from 1PM until the time of a funeral service at 2PM in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery.
