OBIT: Joy Elizabeth Roundy

Joy Elizabeth Roundy passed from this world Monday, March 17 2014.

Gratefully, her daughter Michel Shiplet and son, Chase Haven, were by her side as she drew her last breath.

Survived by four daughters, a son, two sisters and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Joy Elizabeth led a rich life. Born in Tremonton, Utah in 1936, she grew up in a State that had been settled by her ancestors. As an adult, she married, had children and moved often, experiencing different parts of America as well as Germany.

She took great pleasure in helping those that were in need and worked in defense of children in both Law offices and Social Services.

Joy Elizabeth loved animals. She contributed, annually to The Humane Society and her children wish that anybody who desires to send flowers, contributes, instead, to their local Humane Society. The family thanks you for your compassion.

A voracious reader, Joy Elizabeth often read from the Poet Rilke. This quote, taken from a verse of prose, symbolizes the world she hoped for and the world we hope she finds: “Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.”

We love and miss you, Mom

All funeral arrangements are private and were entrusted to Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
