OBIT: Robert Francis Harkless (Tionesta)
Robert Francis Harkless, 84 of Tionesta (Forest County) died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Butler.
He was born July 8, 1929 in West Franklin Township to Francis and Margaret (Armstrong) Harkless.
Robert was a very proud, retired U.S. Navy veteran of 30 years, serving in World War II and retiring in 1976.
Robert also retired from Joy Manufacturing in Warren, Pa., and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tionesta. He attended the Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin.
Robert was also a member of the Fryburg Sportsmens Club in Fryburg, the VFW, Eagles and Elks in Oil City.
Robert is survived by his four daughters: Candice Shotts of Rural Valley, Londie (Ron) McWilliams of Tionesta, and Helen and Annie (and son, James) of Philadelphia; godson, Joe (Jill) Scarderry of Boyertown, Pa.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; girlfriend, Lovella Leone of Franklin, Pa.; three nephews: Rick Fennell of McGraw, Pa., Doug Fennell of Emlenton and Brian Harkless of Ohio, niece Judy of Ohio; and close cousin, William (Julie) Harkless of Worthington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carolyn Harkless; infant brother, William Harkless; brother Don Harkless; sister, Maxine Fennell; and son-in-law, Richard Shotts.
Friends will be received from noon until the time of funeral services at 1PM tomorrow – Friday, October 18, 2013 – at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Interment will follow in Cochran Cemetery.
