OBIT: Helen Reken (Home, PA)

Helen (Beresnyak) Reken, 84, of Home, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

She was born on March 11, 1929 to Joseph and Rose (Yasko) Beresnyak in South Mahoning Township.

Helen worked as a homemaker and a telephone operator for Bell of PA in Indiana and Pittsburgh.

She enjoyed going to Atlantic City and was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her family.

Helen was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Helen is survived by her two sons: J. Alan Reken and wife Kelly of Smicksburg and David J. Reken and wife Sally of Saratoga, NY; two grandsons: Austin and Gavin Reken; and granddaughter, Alison Reken.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Reken, who died September 23, 2011; daughter, Roseann Reken, who died in 1974; sister, Mary Grego; and seven brothers: John, Andy, Steve, Joe, George, Frank, Matt and Bill Beresnyak, who was killed in World War II.

Visitation will be held from 7-9PM tonight – Wednesday, August 7, 2013 - at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home in Rural Valley. A service will be held at 8:30PM.

Mass will be held at 10AM tomorrow, Thursday, August 8 2013 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Yatesboro, with Rev. Douglas Dorula officiating. Parting of Prayer Service will be held at 9:30AM from the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sagamore.
