OBIT: Harry Daniel “Dan” Hill (Kittanning)
Harry Daniel “Dan” Hill, 81, of Kittanning, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at ACMH.
He was born March 30, 1931 in Kittanning, the son of Harry and Sadie (Moorehead) Hill.
Dan lived in the area all his life and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a sergeant in communications. After returning from the service, Dan worked as a cold mill worker at Armco Steel, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Butler Armco Independent Union and also belonged to Manorville United Methodist Church. Dan loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Above all, Dan loved nothing more than being with his family. They will always remember his devotion to them, and he will be greatly missed.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty (Shannon) Hill, who he married June 22, 1956; two daughters: Cindy Hill and Lori (Clarence) Walker - all of Kittanning; five grandchildren: Tiffany Walker, Brittany Walker, Joshua Walker, Tabby (Scott) Fosnot and Clarence C. Walker III; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Josephine Miller, of Goshen, IN.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tamie Hill, who passed away July 12, 2011; four brothers: Walter, Philip, Jim and Paul Hill; and three sisters: Isabel Hill, Mildred Hill and Cassandra Hill.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc. in Elderton.
Additional visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thom Bonomo officiating.
Burial will immediately follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington, where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
