The Kittanning Sr. High School gym was filled to capacity with students, faculty and well-wishers yesterday as senior Jordan Klodowski received the Allegheny General Hospital Sports Medicine Extra Effort Award. The award is for high school students that excel on the field of play as well as in the classroom and community. Klodowski admitted that he never expected to win such an award.

“ I was speechless actually. I know that people always commend me for the hard work I put in and say it shows but I never necessarily put myself at the level that’s beyond everyone else,” Klodowski said. “This award really gives me a lot of recognition that I would say is very honoring.”

Klodowski, an accomplished golfer, doesn’t want his athletic career to end after high school.

“I definitely hope to play golf somewhere. Wherever I go, I’m at least going to tryout for the team to see if I can make it. If not, I’ll still play golf on my own time and practice because it’s just something I’m passionate about,” he said.

Along with his athletic skills, Klodowski shines in the classroom as well. He currently sports an impressive 4.57 GPA and scored a perfect 800 in the math portion of the SATs. This is a skill he plans to capitalize on in the future.

“In college, I want to major in math. I just really like math. I haven’t fully made up my mind as far as a job yet. I want to go to college and see how I develop, “ he said.

During the pep rally, students waved signs and cardboard cutouts of Jordan’s face as KDKA’s Bob Pompeani introduced him and presented him with an award plaque and a check worth $200. The level of support from his fellow students certainly didn’t go unnoticed by the man of the hour.

“I loved it. It’s just a great student body. I’m really proud to have them supporting me and to be able to call myself one of them,” Klodowski said.

Klowdowski’s award presentation will air on KDKA at that end of this month.
