Power Outage to Affect Residents Friday, Too
by Jonathan Weaver
In addition to electricity being cut to close to 2,000 local residents this morning, electricity will be out during the same period of time Friday morning.
West Penn Power customers in West Kittanning Borough and Applewold Borough will experience the outage for about 30 minutes each day as scheduled by FirstEnergy.
FirstEnergy Spokesperson Todd Meyers said the customers will be switched to a different circuit tomorrow morning due to the need for repairs to a damaged pole in the area of Whiskey Hollow Road.
Crews cannot work on an energized line, and the switch will enable crews to work throughout the day as long as needed.
Customers will also experience a temporary shut-off Friday morning so crews can reconnect customers.
Residents and businesses affected include those who live along: Pine Hill Road, Butler Road, Sherwood Drive, Ridge Avenue, Franklin Avenue and Ferne Drive.
Meyers could not confirm how the pole was damaged, but reiterated that crews try to fix the problem as soon as they are noticed.
Automated voice messages were also sent to residents.
