Local High School Students Recognized for Television Excellence

Three Ford City High and one Kittanning Senior High media arts students are to be recognized at the Armstrong School District school board open caucus session tonight for winning awards in a state film festival.
Bailey Neale, Jake Klingensmith and Marlee DeBacco all won awards from the annual Teachers of Video and Television spring film festival at Robert Morris University April 11. Neale won an Award of Excellence for her Public Service Announcement on “Save the Music” as well a co-award with Klingensmith and DeBacco in Broadcast News for an episode of Education Today entitled “Ford City Flashback.”
The awards marked the fifth consecutive year Ford City has won an award and is their sixth in that time span.
In addition to the Ford City honorees, Alexis Trogovic, a TV II Student from Kittanning High School won an Award of Excellence in the Digital Cinematography category for her video “The Choices We Make”. This is the first year and first award for Kittanning High School.
As a district, Armstrong has won eight TVT awards.
There were 34 high schools and 500 students from western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio that competed in this year’s festival. Ford City High School’s television & video production program, under the direction of teacher Barbara Keller, has been involved with TVT since 1997.
