ARMTech Showcase Continues at Belmont Complex
by Nathan Lasher
Members of the public had their chance to view exhibits at the ARMTech Showcase held at the Belmont Complex from 5:30 until 7:30 yesterday evening.
The ARMTech Showcase is a three-day event which provides networking opportunities for exhibitors who participate. According to Justin Nolder of the Armstrong County Industrial Development Council, specific industries that participate include ones that do business with the Department of Defense and also with the aerospace industry. There are also a lot of advanced manufacturing companies involved and companies involved with electro-optics.
“It’s our chance to show off our County, and I would welcome everybody up there,” said Armstrong County Commissioner Rich Fink during a meeting held yesterday afternoon.
The Showcase is made up of several events including a golf outing, a pre-event seminar, speeches from members of Congress, a breakfast, and public and private exhibits.
Also, during yesterday’s meeting of the Armstrong County Commissioners, Commissioner Jim Scahill wished to remember the founder of the ARMTech Showcase. “ARMTech is in its twelfth year, and I know we can’t go without saying that the founder that helped us go along this course is no longer with us,” he said. “Congressman Jack Murtha passed away earlier this year and is greatly missed by everybody. It changes the dynamic of ARMTech, but ARMTech is going on. We’re going to honor Congressman Murtha this year for the whole event. We did yesterday, and we will again tomorrow. The sustainability of our efforts and the sustainability of what he tried to put in place will continue and there’s a spirit there that we saw there yesterday from some of the vendors and some of the people that come that we are going to continue forward. It is our future.”
Today’s ARMTech events include a breakfast at Lenape Golf Course which will feature speeches by Congressman Mark Critz and Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper, and a Business to Business Showcase.
